Slow tourism: visit the lagoon by kayak for a different perspective

The lagoon of Cavallino-Treporti is not just a mirror of water dividing land from sea. It is a living organism, a pulsing ecosystem that changes with the breath of the tide. Exploring it by kayak means immersing yourself in this breath, leaving behind the perspective of the shore to embrace the water.

Paddling through the salt marshes (barene) means entering the secret heart of Cavallino-Treporti. This is where nature becomes poetry: among the colorful carpets of samphire and delicate marsh flowers, which dye the fertile mud and submerged islands in vibrant hues. The silence of the kayak allows you to approach without disturbing, making us privileged spectators of an ancient world.

Gliding softly, it is possible to spot the steady elegance of the grey heron, the agility of the little egret, or the silent flight of the cormorant. It is not uncommon, with a bit of luck and calm, to observe the sacred ibis probing the ground in search of food. It is an experience that reconnects you to the primal rhythm of the earth.

To live this experience authentically, I recommend contacting Laguna Kayak. My friend Roberta leads these expeditions with special care: her fuchsia canoes are not just a touch of style, but a visual nod to the vibrant colors of the marsh flowers that dot the lagoon landscape. This is the only place in Cavallino that allows you to experience the lagoon by kayak all year round, making every season – from the summer sun to the crisp light of winter – a perfect moment for discovery. And if you are traveling with your dog, Roberta gives you the chance to bring it with you on the kayak,
