Heat wave or rain in Cavallino-Treporti? Escape to Art at the J Museum in Jesolo
Summer on the coast can be wonderful, but let's be honest: there are days when the weather puts us to the test. Either the thermometer rises so high that the beach feels like a scorching grill, or a sudden storm ruins your plans for sunbathing and cycling through the salt marshes of Cavallino-Treporti. What to do then? The answer is to turn the corner and treat yourself to a few hours of relaxation, culture, and air conditioning. Today we take you to discover the extraordinary exhibition at the J Museum in Jesolo, entirely dedicated to the drawings and watercolors of our beloved Lagoon.
Impossible Weather? The "Plan B" is Just Minutes from Cavallino
When the sun beats down too hard or clouds threaten rain, there's no need to lock yourself in your bungalow or hotel room. Just a few kilometers from the coastline of Cavallino-Treporti, the J Museum (Civic Museum of Jesolo) offers the ideal environment to recharge. Its spacious, quiet, and perfectly air-conditioned halls are an oasis of peace. But the real reason to go there right now is the splendid temporary exhibition that celebrates the fragile beauty of our territory through the delicacy of watercolor painting.
The Exhibition: The Lagoon between Light, Transparencies, and Watercolors
The current exhibition path is a true visual journey that fits perfectly with the spirit of those who love Cavallino. The show gathers a precious collection of pencil drawings, ink works, and watercolors created by artists who knew how to capture the essence of the Venetian Lagoon.
Specifically, the exhibition is titled "Tra terra e acqua. La Laguna di Venezia e le Valli di Jesolo" (Between Land and Water. The Lagoon of Venice and the Valleys of Jesolo) and is a unique opportunity that can be visited until January 11, 2027. Over a hundred works, including paintings, watercolors, and sketchbooks, tell the story of the Venice Lagoon and the Jesolo Valleys through the eyes of six naturalist artists of the Ars et Natura collective, coordinated by the ornithologist Fernando Spina.
Strolling among the paintings, you will feel as though you recognize the familiar profiles of the valley huts, the winding curves of the canals, the reflections of the sky on the still water, and, naturally, the elegant silhouettes of the pink flamingos. Watercolor, with its transparency and fluidity, is perhaps the only pictorial medium capable of doing justice to the "liquid" nature and changing colors of our lands.
"The drawings in the exhibition are not simple views, but stories of light. They capture the morning mist rising over Lio Piccolo, the blinding glare of midday, and the poetic melancholy of winter sunsets in the salt marshes."
