Paws on vacation in Cavallino-Treporti
Paws on Vacation: A Practical Guide for Dogs and Owners in Cavallino-Treporti
Finding a place that welcomes your furry friend in Cavallino-Treporti isn't hard. The real challenge starts once you unpack: that's when you realize the beach right in front of your hotel might be "off-limits," or that your dream restaurant doesn't even allow a well-behaved Chihuahua. Suddenly, your relaxing holiday feels like an obstacle course.

The "Magic" Beach: Where we are (and what happened)
You should know that here in Cavallino-Treporti, during the off-season when the beach is deserted, the coastline is so free you can even go horseback riding! But as soon as the tourist season kicks in? Everything changes. Regulations take over!
Until three years ago, we had three beautiful public Pet Beaches. Then, as if by magic, they were reduced to just one. This caused quite a stir among locals and loyal tourists alike. Can you guess which ones are the only ones that didn't lose their permit? The ones located in front of the two largest campsites on the coast. Catching a bit of irony here? Well, maybe we'll discuss that in another post...
Getting down to business: Where can my dog swim?
If you want your dog to enjoy a swim without being looked at like an outlaw, this is your destination:
Heads up: Be careful with the info on the official Cavallino Park website. In the other two areas mentioned there, dogs are NOT allowed to swim. Trust the locals on this one!
Other areas (Walking only, no swimming)
In this specific area, dogs can access the beach bar (chiosco), but swimming is prohibited:
In the following area, access is only allowed on a leash, and again, no swimming is permitted:
Crucial detail: To reach these areas, you cannot walk along the seafront promenade. You must enter through the specific designated beach access points where—surprise!—you'll find a paid parking lot waiting for you.
Getting around: Tips & Gear
Making a dog run on scorching hot asphalt for miles is cruel. If your dog is small, a reinforced bike basket is the way to go; for XL breeds, a bike trailer is a lifesaver. It’s the coolest way to get them around.
Final Note: Cleanliness & Courtesy
Cleaning up after your pet is a duty to our land. However, dear Municipality, give us a hand! We have miles of bike paths, but waste bag dispensers are as rare as a free umbrella in August. More "Dog Stations" and water fountains with integrated bowls would make Cavallino-Treporti truly "Pet Friendly," not just on paper.
